Welcome to Ascot Bridge Club's web site.

This site aims to provide both members and visitors with all the key information on what's happening and what's planned within the club.

There is bridge played at the Ascot club every Monday afternoon and Tuesday evening - except on bank holidays. Whilst the Monday afternoon section of the club plays exclusively duplicate pairs bridge, the Tuesday evening section includes teams of four evenings several times every year.

Member News

Congratulations to Rosemary Power, Bridget Hughes, Dave Calcutt and Dave Green, who represented Ascot in the annual Berks vs Bucks challenge match on 21st May. They were the only team to register a plus score for Berks in the B match. Posted 5th June 2008

Congratulations to Rosemary Power and Bridget Hughes who had a successful weekend at the Spring Bank Holiday Congress in Bournemouth. They started by finishing 7th in the Swiss Pairs event (out of 108 pairs), and then combined with Rae Kennedy and Di Bidmead to finish runners-up in the B Flight Swiss Teams. The BBL End of Season event took place on 1st May and Ascot took away all the prizes in the pairs event. Congratulations to: 1st Barry Read (with Joyce Baldock); 2nd Jennie Corfield and Bruce Franklin; 3rd Addis Page and Dave Calcutt; 4th Mary Hughes and David Owen. Posted 12th May 2008

Congratulations to Rouenna Winstanley & Barry Read who came 3rd in a very strong field for the county Senior Pairs event on 16th April, with over 59%. Posted 24th April 2008

Congratulations to Jennie, Bruce, Barry and Alan for coming 3rd in the Committee Cup Final on Sun 9th March. Posted 15th March 2008

David Owen has excelled once more in winning the Rex Avery Trophy on Sun 10th Feb for the County Pairs for the 3rd time, each with a different partner – this time with Steve Johnston. Posted 13th February 2008

Ascot pairs in the top 3 of County Mixed Pairs on Sun 3rd Feb. Congratulations to Julie Kennedy & Richard Sheridan 2nd, Mary Hughes & David Owen 3rd. Posted 13th February 2008

Teams News

The final positions in the Bracknell League are now clearer. Congratulations to Ascot A (Barry, Alan, Jennie, Bruce) for retaining the Div I Championship with 1 match remaining. Ascot B came third, their highest position in recent years. Congratulations also to Ascot D (Brian Hughes, Jim Kerevan, Phil Adler, Jerry Carlsson, Vernon Bates), who are promoted from Div II. In the BBCBA League, Ascot A finished mid-table in Div 1 thanks to some big wins in the second half of the season. Sadly Ascot B are relegated to Div 3 after failing to win a game after Christmas. Posted 12th May 2008

Other News

Road Works

Due to pipe laying work, there will be road closures and restrictions in the vicinity of the church hall which will affect access. Work starts 23rd June 2008 and is expected to last 20 weeks. Watch this web site for latest details (headline on this page). Posted 18th June 2008

Hall Closure

We have been informed by the church hall representative that the hall will have to be closed for essential electrical maintenance work during the week of 16th June 2008. Consequently there will be NO BRIDGE on Monday 16th or Tuesday 17th June 2008. Posted 16th May 2008
