 What do you bid?

 Say you bid 2NT (unusual) and your partner bids 3D, what now?

 I elected to bid 4C figuring it ought to be taken as forcing showing a 9-10-trick hand. Partner bid 5D and there it stopped.

 Six diamonds or clubs was cold when partner showed up with AJ in Clubs, 3 or 4 diamonds, the Ace of Hearts and some values in Spades. 

Suggestions as to how the bidding should have gone?
